The Path Forward

How to become an Artistic Skating Amateur Athlete:

Master the Fundamentals ("The Basics")

Prior to starting this Competitive Track, skaters should master The Basics either through the IOW Skating Academy group class or via self-study. Skills to master:

  • balance

  • forward & backward skating

  • controlled stops

  • edges

  • basic turns/transitions

Try Out the Weekly Class

The class is  structured around artistic skating events. The class takes place on Tuesdays from 7 pm - 8:00 pm and is lead by 3-time Team USA member, Jackie Howell. Training includes skill development across figures, dance, freestyle and group elements, aligned with recognized competitive standards.
