General Questions
The best place to start is our Newbie Group Class.
This class is intentionally small and designed specifically for brand-new skaters. We cover safety, how to stand, and how to begin moving comfortably. Much of the class takes place on carpet or at the wall, allowing skaters to learn slowly.
If you’re not available when the Newbie class is scheduled, the next best option is a 30-minute private lesson.
30 minutes provides plenty of time to learn the essential skills needed at this stage. Longer private lessons are generally unnecessary and may be physically overwhelming early on.
Group classes are held when the rink is closed to the public, creating a more controlled, low-pressure environment. Private lessons typically take place during public skate sessions, which may include crowds, louder music, or lower lighting.
Starting with the Newbie Group Class—or a short private lesson when needed—helps new skaters build confidence before moving into longer lessons or additional classes.
Yes — we offer introductory inline skating instruction.
Most Ignite On Wheels instructors can work with beginner inline skaters who are building foundational skills such as balance, stopping, and skating independently without relying on the wall.
For skaters who are beyond the introductory stage and are comfortably skating on their own, we recommend booking with instructors who have additional inline skating experience. Based on availability, we suggest the following instructors:
• Miguel – Extensive experience with inlines
• Jackie – Experienced with inlines
• Stephanie – Teaches inline fundamentals
• Andre (Dre) – Teaches inline fundamentals
It depends on the location of your class or lesson:
• If you're skating at Austin Roller Rink or The Millennium Youth Entertainment Complex, roller skates are provided.
• For sessions held at outdoor venues or dance studios, you'll need to bring your own skates.
Be sure to check your booking details for venue information!

Private Lessons:
If no time slots appear for an instructor, they are likely fully booked or not currently available at that time. Feel free to send us a message — occasionally, instructors are able to open additional time slots.
Group Classes:
We update our group class schedule 1–2 weeks before the start of each month. While drop-in classes may appear earlier, bundles are typically published closer to the 1st of the month.
